Future of Technology Startups in Europe
Though there is a gloomy economic prospect in EU industries at present, this situation shall alter soon. As per the records of Trading Economics, Euro Area economics accelerated to 0.3% till June 2016. This shows that European Union is fighting against the tides to expose its visibility in the global market. Its expected that the economic growth due to the internet savvy technology companies shall create new job opportunities to millions of people in Europe. However there has been a chain of startups coming up with a faster pace in the entire EU region. Starting a new company and making it compete with the existing market leaders is not that easy. Its generally an intimidating feeling for the entrepreneurs, however risks should be taken in order to achieve something big.
This entire process of setting up a new enterprise provides prospects of learning and innovation. Fresh ideas are often appreciated by the audiences instead of the same age-old ones. These new businesses shall surely contribute to the growing employment rate in Europe. According to the statistics of EU Commission, in the year 2013 1.8 million jobs were created due to the booming app business in European countries. Its predicted that by the year 2018 this figure shall rise to 4.8 million and shall earn a revenue of 68 billion euros. Still its believed that a larger part of EU’s potential is yet to be nurtured. The most prominent startup hubs of Europe are Berlin, Stockholm and London.
CB Insights show that countries like Ireland, Spain and Denmark have at least one technology startup which has raised 100 million dollars till date. Nations like Czech Republic and Netherlands have also produced startup technology companies contributing over 100 million dollars in terms of revenue. When we talk about renowned digital technology enterprises in Europe there are only two which seems noteworthy, SAP and Vodafone. The rate in which startup companies grow in Europe might be slower than United States as capital and talent are extremely fragmented. Regulatory regimes also make it difficult for setting up of new companies in EU nations. Therefore there is an intensive need for strong partnerships and funding for entrepreneurs thinking about starting their own ventures in European territories.
There is a silver lining now with Entrepreneurship 2020 action plan enforced by European Union. This basically focuses on connecting people and accelerating networking among them. This is mainly because with a growing network, entrepreneurs can find stable partners and finance contributors for their startup ventures. Vice President of European Commission - Neelie Kroes has furthermore created The Startup Europe Leaders Club, which is an independent group of founders of technology companies. This club is involved in providing guidance on strengthening business environment for various European entrepreneurs. There are more to be done in order to facilitate technology startups in Europe. With governmental and individual contributions Europe can be a major competition to the global markets in terms of technology.
